MS/HS Half Day Period Schedule for 5/5/2021

Due to internal WiFi issues the District will move to remote instruction tomorrow (Tuesday May 4) for the Middle and High School. Students will be able to connect to their classes remotely and follow their regular schedule.
If you would like to pick up a lunch/breakfast for your child please call ahead (518) 966 - 5070 Ext. 429 for pick up by 9:30 a.m.
Students will still be able to attend their Questar programs and if needed should access the normal morning transportation.
The IB exam will still be held at noon. Students should arrive by 11:45 a.m. The school will call to see which students need transportation.
The Elementary School will be in-person.

Although the 9th Grade Global Studies classes of
Mr. Katagiri and Mr. Thela, were unable to host a
Medieval Fair Night this year, the students
displayed their comprehension of the Middle Ages
in Europe while presenting their projects and
research virtually in class. After choosing a topic
of interest, students conducted research to
construct a physical project that represented the
topic. As a modification to in-person presentations
of exhibits, students constructed slide shows in
which they imbedded research as well as videos
and pictures demonstrating artifacts they created.
Many of the people, ideas, technologies, and
catastrophes from the period that had a great
impact on the world today were represented.
Students displayed a wide range of historical
projects demonstrating food, architecture, disease,
weapons, and much more. Check out some projects here:

Mrs. Jensen's Earth Science classes took a virtual trip to the international space station in preparation for our Friday keynote address by astronaut Stephen Bowen. Each class developed questions to ask Mr. Bowen and selected a student representative to be part of the live interview.
What would you ask an astronaut if you had the opportunity?

High school students in Product Design class are busy building outdoor furniture.

Friday is our Career Day starting at 8:15 with keynote speaker astronaut Stephen Bowen!
A fun fact: This Thursday there is a SpaceX astronaut launch, called “Crew-2,” from Kennedy Space Center. There will be live coverage of the launch starting at 2 am on the 22nd. For anyone who might be interested, this can be viewed on NASA TV or www.nasa.gov/nasalive or on SpaceX’s YouTube channel!

GCS 7-12 Band members record a piece for band, chamber music, and learn more about music participation in our community as part of Music In Our Schools Month.
Thank you to Ms. Cioffi and her students for all the work that went into creating this!

Thank you to our HS Living Environment teachers Ms. Sharkey and Ms. DuBois for bringing us March Madness!
March Mammal Madness (inspired by the NCAA basketball tournament) is a nationwide tournament of simulated battles amongst 65 animals to start. Students researched the animals and predicted their winners based on adaptations/characteristics of the various animals. Who is the fastest? Who is venomous? Who has the best fight style or even the most motivation. Battle outcomes are released from a team of researchers and we are following closely to see who will be the 2021 March Mammal Madness Champion!!!
