To provide teachers with the additional time needed for parent/teacher meetings, parent phone calls, individualized student help/personal connections, professional development and planning time, the following revisions are being made to the 2020-21 School Calendar:

  • December 1 (Tuesday) and December 7 (Monday) were originally scheduled as K- 6  early release days for parent/teacher conferences.  These two days have now been changed to K-12 early release days.  K-5 students will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. and students in grades 6-12 will dismiss at 11:45 a.m. For students in grades 6-12, these will be Spartan days and students are expected to be onsite for their scheduled in-person days. Lunches will be prepared and sent home with all students.
  • January 11 (Monday) and January 25 (Monday) will be changed to K-12 early release days.  K-5 students will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. and students in grades 6-12, will dismiss at 11:45 a.m. For students in grades 6-12, these will be Strong days and students are expected to be onsite for their scheduled in-person days. Lunches will be prepared and sent home with all students.
  •  With the recent notification that the January Regents have been cancelled,  January 28 and 29 will now follow a regular class schedule for students in grades 9-12.

Snow Days:  The current school calendar includes additional days to allow for school closures due to inclement weather.  With the many changes and challenges that COVID-19 has presented for our students, we have decided to allow for the joys that come with a snow day.  A snow day can help support students’ social and emotional needs as it allows our students to have a break from the computer screen,  play in the snow, have hot chocolate and do other fun activities that come with an unexpected day off. If we use more snow days than we have built into the calendar, we would consider having students learn remotely, rather than an emergency closure that would impact Spring Recess.
