Superintendent Rachel Anderson

The Greenville Central School District Board of Education has appointed Rachel Anderson as the next Superintendent of Schools, effective July 13, 2026. The Board selected Anderson as an experienced educational leader with a strong background in curriculum and instruction.

This appointment represents a homecoming for Anderson. From 2002 to 2018, she served as an Agriculture Teacher at Greenville High School. During her tenure, she was the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department Chair and an FFA Advisor. She was also recognized as a leader in agricultural and science education, and played an active role in district curriculum development and planning initiatives.

Anderson is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction at Guilderland Central School District. She previously served as Guilderland High School’s Instructional Administrator for Math, Science, and Technology from 2018 to 2022.

“Rachel Anderson brings a unique combination of instructional expertise, administrative leadership, and a deep understanding of our community,” said Board of Education President Tracy Young. “As a lifelong resident of Greenville, Valedictorian of the Greenville High School Class of 1996, and a former teacher, we’re excited to welcome Rachel home.”

In her new role, Anderson hopes to explore new ways to recruit and retain high-quality administrators, faculty, and staff. She intends to maintain fiscally responsible practices, communication with parents and the community, support and grow quality programming for students, and foster community engagement with the school district.

“As an alumnus, a former teacher, and a parent, I am honored and excited to return to Greenville as Superintendent,” said Anderson. “Greenville has always held a special place in my heart, and I look forward to partnering with its talented and committed faculty and staff to continue to provide the high-quality education and wide range of opportunities that my family and I have benefited from over the years.”

Throughout her career, Anderson has been recognized for her contributions to education at the local, state, and national levels. She served as a New York State Master Teacher, was a member of the New York State Career and Technical Education Regents Advisory Panel, and received the New York Association of Agricultural Educators Outstanding Young Teacher Award. Most recently, she served as a panelist at the Leading Literacy Summit in Albany and earned a Science of Reading Microcredential through SUNY New Paltz.

Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Arts in Teaching, Biology and Agriculture Education from Cornell University. She also holds a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Educational Administration from the University at Albany. Anderson lives in Greenville with her husband, Steve Sarsfield, and their two kids, Declan and Riley.
