We have revised and updated the 2025-26 school calendar. Below is a list of these changes, followed by explanations for each adjustment.
Friday, May 22, 2026
- No school for students, faculty, and staff.
- Emergency Closing Give Back Day
Thursday, June 25, 2026
- Last day of classes for elementary/middle school students.
- The elementary and middle schools have enough instructional hours to end school on Thursday instead of Friday this year.
- 8th grade advancement will take place as scheduled.
Friday, June 26, 2026
- No school for students.
- Per their contracts, faculty and staff will use the day to prepare for summer and the upcoming school year.
- High School Graduation will take place as scheduled.
We only used three Emergency Closing days, but we plan for five. Shouldn’t we be getting two days off?
Although we often call weather-related closings “snow days,” they are technically Emergency Closing Days. The five allotted days are for emergencies such as snowstorms, ice storms, power outages, floods, water main breaks, etc. The District used three “snow days” this year. One day is “given back,” and one day is reserved in case of an emergency before the school year ends.
Has the district ever given a “give back” day before?
Yes, just last year. Two emergency closing days were used. One day was given back on Tuesday after Memorial Day, and two days were reserved in case of an emergency.
When is Memorial Day Recess?
There will be no school from Friday, May 22, 2026, through Monday, May 25, 2026. Classes will resume Tuesday, May 26, 2026. High school will have a B day and middle school will have a D day.
The school calendar lists Tuesday, May 26th, as a Tentative Emergency Closing Day. Why are we getting Friday off instead of Tuesday?
Based on community feedback, the Board of Education and administration felt that Friday would be a better day off for families.
Thank you,
Todd Hilgendorff
Interim Superintendent
