"I grew up, went to school (class of ’98), went to church (St. John’s), got married to my high school sweetheart (of 28 years!), bought a house, had two children, and started a business all right here in the Greenville School District. It has been a great place for me and my family. If our friends and neighbors will have me, I’d like to give back through my future efforts as a member of the GCSD Board of Education.

As young boy I struggled a bit in school. When my family moved upstate to Greenville, I was blessed to enter third grade with Mr. Kiefer (his first year teaching) and Mrs. Simmons (helped me in reading lab). What a difference it made having teachers that cared and solid curriculum for them to work from. I was up and running in no time and happier than ever to be in school, because I felt like was getting somewhere. The sciences and nature were all brought to life and super fun with Mr. Haley in fourth grade (though I did fall in the creek on one of our expeditions). By sixth grade I found myself writing “I will not forget my homework” one hundred times in my notebook to hand in to Mr. Caputi, a veteran of the Armed Forces and by then a veteran teacher. His disciplined classroom with high standards was one that fostered growth for me and my friends. We looked up to him. We appreciated the structure and knew what to expect and it was good. Seventh grade came and Coach McTavish taught us about hustle and wit (at our expense) as we ran endlessly up and down hills behind the school that have since been flattened. Nearing the end of high school Mr. Sealy ignited my interest in Economics and it was at his prompting that I applied to Siena College, eventually studied business there and received a BA in Economics. My time at Greenville was not all peaches and cream. There were definitely some challenges to overcome as most youths in school deal with. The point of telling this GCS journey is that I’m familiar with the culture and I know I have experienced first hand the incredible gifts that can come from GCS, but I also see areas where we need work and attention.

As the owner of a small coatings application company I have been working on residential, commercial and industrial projects locally since 2005. I believe this experience can be helpful when looking out for the taxpayers and the district when working through capital projects and approaching the budget.

I am a community volunteer for: PTSA, Girl Scouts, Military Ball, Golden Gala, Religious Education Teacher St. John's Church/Horizon KFC Program/ Huntersfield Youth Camp Leader, Nature’s Classroom, Elem/High School Career Day, Immigration Day, Youth Basketball, Assistant Starr's Karate, Men's Study Group."

Kelly Hubicki

"I moved to Greenville when my husband, Walter, and I got married in 2002. Our older sons, Micah and Chris, graduated from Greenville in 2023 and our youngest son, Luke, is in 3rd grade at Ellis. I am finishing my first term on the Board of Education and have been volunteering in the Greenville schools for more than 15 years. In addition to my time in the district, I also teach preschool part time in Westerlo and I am involved with several ministries at my church.

Over the last three years, I have learned so much about the strengths of our district and the challenges facing schools across New York State. I have advocated at the state level to help lawmakers understand how their decisions directly impact our kids and community. I have also worked to strengthen communication between the Board of Education and our community. My connections in and out of the schools give me a unique perspective that helps me to consider the needs of every student.

I’m running for the Board of Education because I love our school district and the opportunities that Greenville provides for our students. I want those opportunities to continue. At the same time, our district is facing some important decisions and challenges, which include selecting a new Superintendent, preparing for the new graduation requirements that New York State has adopted, addressing the state EV bus mandate, and advocating for fair state funding to meet the growing needs of our students and schools.

Over the last three years, I have worked hard to learn, serve, and advocate for our district, and I hope to continue that work on behalf of our kids."

"I’m a GCSD parent of a kindergartner and second grader, Davey-Mae and Tilda, and the Director of the Rensselaerville Library. Our family moved to the Greenville area over five years ago and immediately connected with other families with children. Our family has roots in Nebraska and New York with many public school educators. The Henderson, Nebraska side -- a principal and school nurse. The Staten Island side -- teachers and paraprofessionals. My childhood in Staten Island centered on school, church, local businesses and the ballfield. My family and I feel lucky to be part of the Greenville community.

I have extensive experience managing non-profits in the Bronx, Troy and Cork, Ireland. My knowledge of non-profits brings a deep understanding of budget development and managing limited funds. I also have a strong interest in and knowledge of facility management. I am committed to public institutions having served on the boards of public schools, a public hospital, and community board education committees. I have over ten years of experience on various education boards and committees. I was a board member of the Community Education Council (School Board) Bronx District 10, and served as PTA representative to the School Leadership Teams at Bronx New School P.S. 51, Ampark Neighborhood School P.S. 344, and the Institute for Collaborative Education. In Greenville, I have attended PTA meetings, board meetings, events for families. I look forward to being active in the PTA and PTSA during our family’s years in the Greenville Central School District.

My family and I are grateful to have Tilda and Davey-Mae in the Greenville Central School District. I am excited for the opportunity to serve on the Board of Education and contribute to building a strong school community. I am committed to welcoming and encouraging community involvement in informing board decisions, and to providing clear communication. As a member of educational boards and committees, I advocated for parents, students and teachers, as well as pushed for transparency and accountability. I have evaluated superintendents, helped hire school administrators and teachers, developed and helped implement school budgets, and fostered collaboration with community members. If elected my priorities will be student safety and well-being, strong academics, and a fiscally responsible budget that supports all students in choosing their educational path. I believe that my nonprofit work experience in fiscal and facilities management, and my volunteer service in schools creating afterschool programs and writing grants to developing curriculum and school budgets makes me an excellent candidate to serve the Greenville Central School District as a school board member."

Eric Herbstritt

"I am employed by the New York State Thruway Authority working in the Information Technology department.

I am running to be re-elected to the Board of Education because I want to continue to serve our community. I believe that every student should have the opportunity for a great education while keeping taxes reasonable.

I moved to Greenville in 1993 with my wife, Ann Holstein. We chose to live in Greenville because of the school district. Our boys were in Ellis when Ann was first elected to the Board of Education, and I became involved with the Little League and Greenville Youth Soccer. As the boys grew, I became more involved with the school district serving on committees such as Gifted & Talented and District Planning. I coached Boys Modified and JV soccer. I was the Greenville MS/HS PTSA Treasurer and President for many years. After the boys graduated from GCS in 2013 and 2015, Ann and I chose to stay involved in GCS. Ann passed suddenly in 2018, and I stayed involved with soccer and serving on the planning committee. In 2020, I was elected to the Board of Education. When asked “Why do you get involved?”, my answer is “Because it takes a village to raise our children.”

As a BOE member, I continue to serve on the Facility Planning Committee, the Audit Committee and Policy Committee. As a parent, volunteer, and Board member, I have seen this district face many different challenges. During my past 6 years, we have hired a Superintendent, managed our way through Covid and continued to graduate our students. GCS continues to be one of the best districts in our area. Superintendent Bennett has recently moved on to State Education, and I look forward to hiring another great Superintendent for our district.

The Budget Vote is Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The 2026-2027 Budget on the ballot has a local tax levy increase of 3.86% with a total budget spending increase of 3.34%. When we were developing this budget, we wanted to be sure that our community’s children would have the best education possible while being fiscally responsible."

Karen Overbaugh

"I’m Karen Overbaugh. I’ve lived in Greenville for 25 years, and I currently serve on the Greenville Central School District Board of Education. My husband, Paul, and I raised our four children here because we wanted to put down roots in a community—and a school district—that values a strong education.

As GCSD parents, Paul and I watched our children thrive in Greenville schools and go on to professional careers—built on the strong academic foundation they received at GCSD.

When our youngest started kindergarten, I began working at Ellis Elementary—first as a substitute aide and later as the main office secretary. Over more than 20 years in the district, I worked closely with students, families, teachers, and administrators, which gave me a firsthand view of what schools and students need to succeed. I retired this past June to provide childcare for my granddaughter, while my daughter joined the faculty at GCS as a music educator. When a midterm board vacancy opened, I was eager to continue serving GCSD in a new way.

I offer a unique perspective to the board, based on my long history with the district as a parent and employee. I bring an action-oriented, problem-solving mindset to the board, along with the patience, collaboration, and persistence it takes to make lasting, positive changes.

I’m committed to making board meetings welcoming and easy to navigate—so community members understand what the board can act on, how public forum works, and where families can find information and support.

I believe in thoughtful, fiscally conservative decisions that invest in students and staff while respecting taxpayers. My priorities are student safety and well-being, strong academics, and long-term conservative financial planning.

I’m honored to serve Greenville with integrity and transparency, and I will keep students at the center of every decision—today and for years to come."
