October 16, 2020

Dear Ellis Families,

Our school reopening plan provided families the opportunity to select from in-person or remote learning options for the first quarter of the school year.  The second quarter begins on Monday, November 16th.  Since the elementary school offers fully in-person and fully remote instruction, we need to begin collecting program change requests from families for the second marking period. (Parents of MS/HS students will receive information from their principals slightly later, due to the differences in scheduling hybrid and remote students.)

  • Parents who wish their child to remain in their current program do not need to respond.

  • If a parent would like their child to move from in-person to remote instruction or from remote to in-person instruction, please click the following link to notify the office of your request.  (Parents’ Decisions for the 2020-21 School Year)

  • All requests for a change of instructional model must be submitted by Tuesday, October 27th.

After we receive input from parents, we will begin to add/remove students enrolled in remote and in-person classroom groups. The input we receive will guide our planning concerning: classroom locations (due to our commitment to social distancing), bus route planning and the delivery of student services.  We will  communicate all placement changes back to families by Wednesday, November 12th.  New placements will begin on Monday, November 16th.

Please remember that the changes requested will be in place for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. We will not be adjusting classroom groups again at the end of the second quarter.  Feel welcome to contact your child’s teacher to discuss any questions regarding how a change of program may support or create challenges for your child. We look forward to partnering with you in this important process.

Sincerely,

Peter Mahan

Elementary Principal
