Greenville CSD - where everyone Learns, Teaches, Belongs!  Spartan STRONG!

September 8, 2021

Dear Families,

Today was the first day of the 2021-2022 school year, and it was INCREDIBLE!  Welcoming students is important, and I would like to thank all the teachers and staff who greeted students and walked them to class this morning.  All our students found their classrooms and settled into the day nicely!

One of the simple joys from today was seeing children move from their classrooms to Physical Education, Art, Music, lunch, and recess!  It has been so long since we have been able to move about the building!

Our UPK (Universal Pre-Kindergarten) and Kindergarten students had Open House events throughout the morning.  We appreciate the time that each family offered to be present with students as they entered THEIR school for the first time!

Students in grades 3-5 gathered in grade-level groups with myself, Mr. Berkshire (K-12 Principal), Mrs. Payne (Elementary School Counselor), Ms. Fritze (K-12 School Counselor), and Deputy Rogers to talk about how we can be Spartan STRONG at school. We reviewed ways to be an “upstander” when we see bullying. Parents may enjoy watching the brief video from our assembly.  Please click here for the video link.  We will share the same lesson with our younger students tomorrow.

During this year, parents will receive this letter from the principal every two weeks (the next letter will be sent this Friday). Parents will also receive regular communication from your child’s teachers.  We will share more information about how we can be partners for your children at our upcoming Open House events.

Sincerely,

Peter Mahan

Elementary Principal
