CPSE
The Committee on Preschool Education (CPSE) is responsible for children with a disability aged three to five years.
Evaluation Process:
A referral is made by the parent or Early Intervention if applicable
Parent/guardian will meet with the CPSE chair to go over the process and sign consents for testing
An evaluation is scheduled with an approved evaluator at no cost to the family
An initial eligibility meeting is scheduled within 60 days from receipt of consent
Recommendations from the CPSE committee go to the school board for approval
Services are arranged if the child qualifies and parent signs consent for services
CPSE Committee members may include:
Parent(s) of the child
General education teacher
Special education teacher or provider
CPSE chairperson
Evaluator
Parent member
Early Intervention Coordinator (if transitioning from EI to CPSE)
County representative
Preschool services may include:
Related services such as: Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech, Counseling
Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT)
Special Class in an Integrated Setting (SCIS)
