Greenville CSD - where everyone Learns, Teaches, Belongs!  Spartan STRONG!

September 18, 2020

What an amazing first week of school!  Thank you for sharing your amazing children with us each day!  Whether we are remote or in-person, our students are incredible!

This week we reminded students what it means to be Spartan STRONG, and we discussed how to solve small problems with the solution circle. We also discussed how to intervene if we ever see bullying at our school.  Bullying is different from someone who is “not being nice.”  Bullying includes threats, intimidation, a power imbalance, and substantially interferes with a child’s learning or well being (NYS Bullying resources can be found here).  Together, we will take a stand against bullying behavior.

We also continued our tradition of recognizing student birthdays.  Please check with your child’s teacher if they welcome “birthday snacks.”  Parents who want to provide birthday snacks can do so in two ways. 1 - Order snacks from our cafeteria program link here, and 2 - Provide snacks in factory-sealed boxes that contain individually wrapped items. Open containers and homemade items cannot be accepted.  We appreciate everyone’s help with this new COVID process.

Our arrival and dismissal routines are coming together, and are requiring less time each day; thank you for your patience.  Please continue the daily screening at home. Parents can help by having students practice buckling into their seats and by exiting/entering via the passenger side (when possible).

As we move into the weekend, we wish our families who celebrate Rosh Hashanah a wonderful holiday. May we all have a year full of “sweetness”! Shana Tova! (Happy New Year!)

Excitedly,

Peter Mahan
