 21st High School Juried Regional

Congratulations to Colby Klob, Sierra Mistler and Kaitlyn Silk for being selected to be a part of the  21st High School Juried Regional Art Show. This is a highly prestigious Art show. Judges selected 108 works of art from the 500 pieces submitted from 22 schools.  This year the show could not be held in person but the Opalka Gallery has created a Virtual Opening & Awards Ceremony to share and celebrate these young artists.

Colby is a junior who took Digital Photography during the fall semester. His work of art is a photo he took while in that class. His photo Three Dimensional Value Scale was from a project where the students need to take photos of the world around them. Their challenge was to make the image abstract and focus on the elements and principles of art taking it out of the context we typically see the subject matter in.

Sierra Mistler is a senior and is a student in the IB Visual Art class.  This year Sierra has been creating artwork that brings awareness to the effects that humans are having on the planet. Her video 58.62 Degrees Fahrenheit brings the viewers attention to the rising temperature of our planet and the effects that this phenomenon is having.

Kaitlyn Silk is also a senior who is an IB Visual Art student. Kaitlyn has been focusing her work on the emotions and how to visually represent a variety of them. For her video Reincarnation, she created a clay flower and submerged it in water. Due to the fact this clay piece was not fired it slowly melted away. Kaitlyn filmed this process and then took the footage and reversed it, creating a time-lapse that gives the viewer a sense of hope.

If you would like to see the artwork created by our Greenville students and the other students who are part of the  21st High School Juried Regional Virtual Opening and Award Ceremony the information is below.
