Scott M. Ellis Elementary School
As I walk the halls at the end of the first full week of school, I am inspired by the words of our students. Several of our classrooms have posted the “Hopes & Dreams” that students have shared regarding their goals for the school year. Some students hope to become better writers, some want to become faster with their math facts, and some want to be able to run the mile in less time… I am so happy to see them think about their personal goals, it shows that they are beginning to see their role as active learners.
I also want to say thank you to all of our families who attended Open House. I am especially grateful for the parents who have volunteered to help at our upcoming PTA Family Fun Night on September 28. More volunteers are needed, so please call our PTA President if you would like be part of this event. If you have any questions about the topics discussed during Open House, please contact me or your child’s teacher.
We are looking forward to a great week. Monday is a regular school day for most students, but some of our families will be celebrating Rosh Hashanah on Monday and we wish them a Happy New Year!
As a reminder, the Open House for our first and second grade students is scheduled for September 27. We look forward to seeing you all there!
